Summary


The New Growth & Development organization is focused on identifying and analyzing areas of future growth and plans to achieve sustained and balanced growth across the enterprise. The organization works to answer "what's next" for Cox and our customers. We develop growth hypotheses and test those hypotheses through: 1) skunkworks, 2) investments in new businesses, 3) traditional R&D, 4) strategic partnerships, and 5) exploration of emerging businesses.


Cox Communications New Growth & Development group is currently seeking a senior leader who will oversee the solution design & deployment of our Wireless Private Networks business line, which is developing next-generation private network solutions to enable secure, reliable connectivity for commercial and governmental customers and enable the devices and applications which run on top of these private networks.


This individual will be responsible for driving the solution design for all Private Network commercial opportunities this includes working with our Technology team to vet and align on technology partners (RAN, Core, endpoints, applications, etc.) and develop a small stable of preferred deployment partners. Additionally, they will work alongside the broader Private Networks team to field all commercial opportunities and to design the appropriate solution architecture for each opportunity (e.g. RAN provider, network architecture, spectrum type, etc.). Lastly, they will oversee all project implementation from the managing of site walk/site survey resources through to overseeing the turn-up and handover of the network to the customer & network support team.


Responsibilities:

  • Act as key development leader driving new customers and leveraging existing customers for future growth.
  • Work closely with local Cox teams and customers on the ground to better understand, frame and address customer connectivity issues and needs -- leading to the solution development and sales of Private Network solutions.
  • Develop or lead others in developing innovative solutions to important, highly complex strategic and operating problems.
  • Negotiate and onboard select technology & deployment partners that can help Cox improve and scale its Private Network offering and bring disruptive solutions to commercial and government customers.
  • Manage partners & third-party relationships to develop and/or deliver effective Private Network technology solutions.
  • Lead the assessment and valuation of new business opportunities and potential threats to sustainability of current business plans.
  • Understand the evolving technology landscape and developing technology that may adequately solve for customer needs via partner discovery and close collaboration with internal wireless experts and external wireless technology providers.
  • Interface across several channels, acting as a visionary, to proactively define, develop, and implement the Wireless Private Networking space.
  • Participate in identifying, evaluating, and negotiating acquisitions, partnerships, alliances, joint ventures, and start-ups in support of a Wireless Private Networking portfolio of products, services and intellectual property.
  • Work with industry peers, partners, suppliers, and key organizations, etc. to understand, influence, and communicate technology trends and requirements to support Wireless Private Network products and services.
  • Represent Cox as an external business leader, advocate and negotiator on specific issues in industry, interindustry and ad hoc working groups and alliances, trade association, public policies and standards committees to promote and implement Cox's positions.
  • Develop and maintains positive relationships with key and senior stakeholders across CCI.
  • Work closely with a cross-functional team including the field, finance, legal, engineering, marketing, operations, IT, Cox Business, and others to develop a consensus around and support for the Private Networks strategy.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience in wireless/telecommunications vertical, preferably with related experience in both licensed and unlicensed wireless technologies.
  • 10 or more years of experience required in related discipline (i.e. wireless project deployment, wireless product management, etc.)
  • 10 years or more of experience leading projects to support growth and increased revenue for existing and future products and/or services.
  • Strong and demonstrable project/process management experience and large team facilitation skills.
  • Strong team player and ability to collaborate with colleagues, navigate relationships in growth verticals and the broader technology ecosystem.
  • Genuine intellectual curiosity, ability to learn new facts and concepts quickly and comprehensively, and to synthesize and communicate effectively to others in both verbal and written forms.
  • Ability to operate independently to navigate tight deadlines, juggle a long list of competing priorities, and operate in a dynamic environment without compromising sharp attention to detail.
  • Intellectual horsepower, desire and proven ability to learn new domains and technologies quickly, energetic can-do attitude and commitment to excellence.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, in addition to excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and execute tactically to develop and launch growth solutions that support our strategic vision.
  • BS/BA degree in related discipline (Engineering, Business, IT, etc.) strongly desired.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Understanding of related industries in the ecosystem and how they impact the wireless network space, e.g., Smart City, Broadband Expansion, IoT, Edge Computing, Neutral Host.
  • Experience in start-up businesses and/or end-to-end new product development experience, with entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Proven ability to structure and negotiate complex business agreements addressing technology, operational, intellectual property, and policy matters.
