We’re seeking a full stack Principal Software Engineer, a React and full stack JavaScript engineer who is deeply technical in an agile, dynamic, team oriented environment to join our Cox Automotive Digital Retailing team in Atlanta, GA.

The Digital Retailing team builds the automotive digital retailing solution – enabling consumers to purchase vehicles online making it possible for dealers to sell more cars, faster. This is an exciting time for us as we develop the leading solution for the industry.

The Principal Software Engineer must be eager and capable of learning new skills and technology, and be motivated to work in a fast-paced atmosphere where wearing multiple hats is encouraged. 

Technology We Use : JavaScript, React, Redux, Node, Python, Dynamo, HTML, CSS, AWS, Elastic Search.

Key Roles & Responsibilities :

  • Serve as a technology thought leader

  • Contribute to the modernizations and innovations of a Cox Automotive F&I domain

  • Champion technology and architecture-related investments, advocating for the priority of this work

  • Define technical architectures aligned to business needs in collaboration with product and engineering

  • Facilitate collaborative design discussions and drive design reviews

  • Work with product to measure, analyze, and improve user experience using tools and frameworks for large-scale product experimentation

  • Recommends improvements to processes and technology that improve the effectiveness of the team

  • Serve as a technical subject matter expert to Tech leads.

  • Assist with the development of engineering and architecture standards

  • Recommends options for the resolution/prevention of technical debt and to facilitate rapid development and implementation

  • Assist with governing software development to ensure satisfaction of non-functional requirements

  • Build software prototypes to validate architecture approaches

  • Participate in problem solving and troubleshooting for the assigned applications, functional areas or projects

  • Share knowledge by effectively documenting work

  • Build software prototypes to assess emerging technologies

  • Stay current with changes in the technical area of expertise

  • 10+ years of experience designing and building web applications and backend services

  • 4+ years with one or more JavaScript SPA frameworks such as REACT, Angular or Ember

  • 5+ years of backend experience using technologies such as C#, Java, Python or Node

  • Open source contributions

  • Need to champion new ideas and have ability to influence the team

  • Have the ability to raise the bar and elevate the team

  • Background working on highly scalable, highly available, fault tolerant systems.

  • Experience with CAFÉ methodologies

  • Possesses cross functional expertise to implement DevOps, CI/CD practices.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field plus 12+ years of relevant work experience; or a Master's degree plus 10+ years of relevant work experience; or a PhD plus 7+ years of relevant experience

  • In lieu of a degree, qualified candidates would require 16+ years of relevant professional experience

  • Ability to work on multiple projects and be flexible to adapt to changing requirements

  • Ability to turn high-level requirements into a working system through iterative development

  • Willingness to embrace and learn new technologies

  • Great understanding of internet, systems, web technologies, and web service architectures

  • Full stack Javacript engineer who thrives in a team environment

  • Experience in an Agile/Scrum environment

  • High energy, confident, ambitious and self-motivated individual

  • Must be an effective communicator
