Cox Automotive is currently looking for a Senior Compensation Analyst to join our team in Atlanta, Georgia.  This is a hybrid role and offers a flexible work-from-home/in-office schedule. For candidates outside of the Atlanta area, we will consider a remote employee. You must reside in the Eastern Time Zone or Central Time Zone in the United States.

Your Role:

Cox Automotive is looking for an experienced Senior Compensation Analyst to develop, design, and consult the HR Business Partners and Business Leaders on our compensation programs. You will participate in the implementation, ongoing evaluation, and governance of these programs and ensure Cox Automotive’s overall compensation objectives are achieved, including the ability to attract and retain talent.


  • Provides guidance to the business and develops creative solutions on a variety of total compensation issues including the setting of appropriate pay levels, base pay, annual incentive pay, local bonus plans and Long term incentive programs

  • Serves as the subject matter expert on compensation programs; provides guidance to group and local leadership on best practices related to policies and processes

  • Consults with and advises stakeholders on compensation policy interpretation, new hire offers and promotions

  • Conducts complex research, data collection, and market analytics to keep a pulse on how Cox Automotive’s pay practices compares to the market

  • Assists with managing complex projects within established budgets and regularly monitoring the success of the client experience

  • Supports job classification through job evaluation and calibration across the enterprise to ensure grade alignment per the career architecture leveling guide.

  • Conducts various annual reviews including, internal equity, merit movement, compa-ratio and other metrics for analysis as needed

  • Audits jobs and pay levels to identify and resolve issues arising from reorganizations, contractual changes, acquisitions, etc.

  • Promotes awareness of the current trends in effective compensation structures and pay practices

  • Works with cross-functional teams on ad hoc compensation related-projects and initiatives

  • Develops and administers any related training and knowledge articles that help further the implementation of compensation strategies within the enterprise

  • Ensures all compensation programs are compliant with federal and state applicable laws and meeting organizational business objectives


  • BA/BS degree in related discipline and 4 years’ experience directly related to compensation consulting to internal or external partners and developing compensation programs.  The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a master’s degree and 2 years’ experience; a Ph.D. and up to 1 year of experience, or 8 years’ experience in a related field. 

  • Requires strong knowledge of industry practices and complete understanding of compensation principles, concepts, and practices including compliance with state and federal laws

  • Proficiency in use of Microsoft Excel (complex formulas, pivot tables, v-lookups and other advanced functions). Solid knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint

  • Systems experience including reporting and data management within a database, e.g., PeopleSoft, Workday, Kronos, Pay Factors, People Fluent, Oracle, etc

  • Excellent communication and analytical skills; able to conceptualize data as it relates to compensation, goal attainment, and achieving results; ability to interpret business objectives and successfully incorporate those into sales compensation terms

  • Builds and maintains strong working relationships with HR Business Partners and Business Leaders

  • Ability to interact with and influence senior executives to successfully deliver reporting results and recommendations related to compensation plan strategy, design or outcomes

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) through World at Work

  • Self-motivated and driven individual that has the ability to work in a high performance, fast-paced team environment 

  • Ability to take on projects and work independently to completion

  • Ability to prioritize and work well under pressure with a sense of urgency while remaining focused
