The Senior User Experience (UX) Researcher will play a key role in ensuring that the product experience on Dealer.com is intuitive, usable and desirable. This person will be a part of a three-person team to lead a variety of research activities and provide guidance and expertise for developing effective, easy-to-use digital products for both responsive web and mobile applications. The Senior role in this team will drive our research strategy and help us establish our research discipline more formally, for the teams they support. The Senior UX Researcher will act as an ambassador for User-Centered Design and advocate for research and design principles among key partners and stakeholders. This is a great opportunity to join a rapidly growing User Experience team within a large enterprise organization focused on delivering clear, consistent, and intuitive solutions for our stakeholders and end-users.

Responsibilities

  • This role works with the Lead User Experience Researcher to drive our research strategy and roadmap and establish best practices for a winning research team

  • Work with product managers, data analytics, designers and content strategists to identify user experience research focus areas and develop comprehensive testing plans

  • Estimate, design, execute and report on research activities using the most appropriate method including, but not limited to, moderated and unmoderated usability, preference and concept studies, heuristic evaluations, personas, journey mapping, card sorts, task-based analysis, surveys, ethnographic research and contextual inquiries

  • Deliver insights, findings and design recommendations based on research and usability design best practices to colleagues within your working group and across the organization

  • Support our product team's continuous delivery approach with a research structure that fosters and encourages a continuous consumer feedback loop

  • Prioritize and coordinate multiple research projects at a time based on business need

  • Saves and stores all research findings within a common research repository so that it is easily discoverable across products.

  • Review online customer feedback and intercept surveys to identify hot spots and themes where users may be struggling

  • Serve as a thought leader by acting as an expert consultant in reviewing designs, communicating best practices, and championing qualitative and quantitative research through the organization

  • Work with design and development teams to produce prototypes for testing

  • Proactively identify improvement opportunities and recommend research methods to understand them better

  • Ensure budget allocated for research projects remains within planned expenses.

  • Continuously evaluate, evolve, and evangelize the research practice and discipline to meet the needs of the business

  • Lead the facilitation, process and deliverables within the user research discipline and mentor other members on the UX team

  • Maintain strong relationships with other departments including Research and Market Intelligence, SEO, Marketing, Editorial, etc.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience planning and executing research activities for both responsive web and native mobile applications

  • Experience using a variety of research tools, for example: UserTesting, Opinion Lab, Optimal Workshop, Verint, and Zoom

  • Strong understanding of current design research, theories, best practices, and methodologies

  • Experience in facilitating design sprints and research in an Agile environment preferred

  • Proven problem-solving skills

  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills

  • Demonstrated ability to direct and multi-task effectively under pressure

  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to deliver concise research summarization

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills

  • Knowledge of Figma and experience creating prototypes for the purpose of testing digital interactive interfaces.

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with the principles of user-centered design

  • Knowledge of and experience in web user interface design and technology

  • Understanding of project management principles

  • Experience conducting research in an Agile environment preferred

  • Experience with in-person and remote testing a must
