Come build a better future with Spiers New Technology, part of the Cox Automotive family of businesses.  We are the leading provider of services for the life cycle management of batteries used in hybrid and electric vehicles.  You will work in a fast-paced environment where these batteries are repaired, refurbished and repurposed. 

The candidate is responsible for playing a leading role in developing technical and mechanical productivity improvements.  This individual will primarily focus on the enhancement and/or troubleshooting of bottlenecks within the business operation and ongoing process improvement.  This candidate will resolve the business risks while invoking a team atmosphere of continuous improvement. 

Primary Responsibilities 

  • Design and develop process layouts and documentation including process failure mode effects analysis (PFMEA), operator instructions (OIs), and control plans to support automotive parts manufacturing processes (PPAP: production parts approval process). 

  • Perform statistical process audits to support quality manufacturing processes. 

  • Coordinates the manufacturing launch of remanufactured electric vehicle batteries 

  • Organizes training of battery technicians during and after production launch. 

  • Supports Inventory control management efforts during and after production launch. 

  • Sources various tools and equipment used in recommended manufacturing processes. 

  • Interacts and often directs the efforts of contractors and vendors. 

  • Communicates directly with customers throughout the life of the project. 

  • Communicates and collaborates with all Engineering counterparts. 


  • Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in engineering, computer science, meteorology, physics, math, or chemistry. Alternatively, we strongly consider candidates with appropriate combined education and professional experience.  

  • Proficient in Process Design/Validation, Process Documentation, Statistical Process Control, or Batteries. 

  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills as well as actual attention to details. 

  • Likes to be organized and self motivated. . 

  • Inherent need to communicate effectively with colleagues. 

  • Proficient with MS Office Suite and LaTeX. 

  • Preferred experience with hand tools in automotive applications 

  • Nice to have experience with Raspberry Pi, Arduino, Python or other software/hardware applications 

Working Environment 

Variable, consisting of both the office environment and the manufacturing floor. Potential hazards include proximity of moving machinery. The position may require an individual to stand, stoop, move equipment; bend, reach, or lift for prolonged periods of time. PPE includes safety glasses, hearing protection and protective footwear.
