Description

What you’ll be doing:

  • Work directly with stakeholders to understand real-world problems in our domain and contribute to and maintain the integrity of solutions by collaborating with cross-functional teams, including software development, operations, and product management, to design, build, and maintain highly reliable and scalable systems.

  • Design and deliver technical solutions to business and product problems in order to develop and deploy automation tools and frameworks using infrastructure as code principles to streamline system provisioning, configuration management, and deployment processes.

  • Implement and optimize CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, Github Actions, Jenkinsfile, and Git to enable rapid and reliable software delivery.

  • Monitor system performance using tools like CloudWatch and Prometheus, analyze metrics, and identify areas for improvement to ensure optimal system behavior and resource utilization. Respond to incidents, troubleshoot issues, and implement effective solutions in an on-call rotation to minimize downtime and mitigate risks.

  • Utilize containerization technologies such as Docker and collaborate with Software Engineers to ensure new features and changes are introduced with a focus on resilience, reliability, scalability, and operational efficiency.

  • Apply infrastructure as code practices using tools like RDS, Terraform to define and manage cloud resources on platforms such as Amazon Web Services (AWS).  Implement and maintain configuration management tools like Ansible and Puppet to manage system configurations consistently. Automate routine tasks and build automation frameworks using Python, Go, or shell scripts to reduce manual toil and improve operational efficiency.

  • Adhere to agile principles, participate in Kanban or other agile methodologies, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. Contribute to the development and implementation of standards, practices, and architecture guidelines for reliable and scalable systems.

  • Evolve problem statements into actionable items that enable the team to deliver measurable value by staying updated with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in DevOps and Site Reliability Engineering domains in order to shape actionable items for the data services engineering team to solve those real-world problems.

  • Demonstrate ownership of initiatives and drive them through to completion.

What we require from you:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field plus 2+ years of relevant work experience; or a Master's degree plus up to 2 years of relevant work experience

  • In lieu of a degree, qualified candidates would require 7+ years of relevant professional experience

  • Strong background as a Software Developer, with experience in designing, developing, and maintaining software applications.

  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages, such as Python, Go, Ruby, or shell scripts.

  • Experience with cloud platforms, particularly Amazon Web Services (AWS), and relevant certifications like AWS Certified DevOps Engineer or AWS Certified Solutions Architect.

  • Strong knowledge of infrastructure as code principles and experience with tools like Terraform and CloudFormation.

  • Familiarity with containerization technologies like Docker.

  • Experience with configuration management tools such as Ansible, Puppet, or Chef. Solid understanding of CI/CD principles and experience with tools like Jenkins, Git, and GitHub. Knowledge of monitoring and logging tools such as CloudWatch, Prometheus, or ELK stack.

  • Familiarity with agile methodologies, including Kanban, and experience working in collaborative, cross-functional teams. Experience tagging resources, building and maintaining new CI/CD Pipelines and migrating online resources to AWS.

  • Must be able to research and troubleshoot challenging work and connect with teams to better understand requirements.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues and propose effective solutions. Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
