The Esntial eCommerce Analytics Team at Cox Automotive is seeking innovative minds to reimagine the automotive online shopping experience. Through the utilization of data and advanced analytics, we are set to revolutionize how people buy and sell cars online. 

Joining our team as a Business Intelligence Developer (Senior Data Analyst) within our Business Intelligence Tools team, you will play an integral role in shaping our Business Intelligence solutions. You will collaborate closely with key teams like Sales, Business Operations, and Product Marketing, and will be responsible for creating robust, data-driven tools to advance our e-commerce operations. 

Straddling the roles of a Business Intelligence Consultant and Report Developer, your tasks will involve translating business needs into actionable data insights. Your skills in project estimation and time management will ensure our operations stay agile in a rapidly evolving market. 

Discovery & Requirements Shaping:  

  • Perform in-depth research to understand solution options and tradeoffs for various BI tools, with a focus on Tableau. 

  • Collaborate with stakeholders and Analytics Consultants to define business problem statements, detail requirements, and provide solution options with their trade-offs. 

  • Prioritize alignment with the business to ensure agreement on chosen options and establish the path forward.  

Report Development and Management:  

  • Design, develop, and refine reporting tools and dashboards using Tableau, keeping performance and scalability in mind. 

  • Develop visually appealing and user-friendly interactive dashboards and reports suitable for diverse business needs. 

  • Monitor and maintain workbooks and dashboards, diagnosing and troubleshooting issues for optimal performance. 

  • Adhere to visual analytics best practices while working within agile scrum routines. 

Training & Communication:  

  • Develop self-service training resources for business users, including metrics glossaries, FAQs, and user guides. 

  • Manage feature launch communications, highlighting key benefits and user on-boarding processes. 

  • Present new features and updates during sprint reviews and other formal sessions. 

Fostering Visual Analytics / Educating / Troubleshooting:  

  • Assist with Tableau Cloud administration, including monitoring environments, diagnosing problems, and repairing issues in a timely manner. 

  • Intake and proactively troubleshoot reported defects and outages. Partner with the Manager to clearly communicate defect resolution and root cause analysis findings and impacts. 

  • Facilitate seamless onboarding for new Analytics Users, guiding them through the features and benefits of BI tools. 

  • Create and enhance resources detailing the variety of Business Intelligence Tools available to users. 

Data Maintenance:  

  • Collaborate with the Data Engineering team to ensure data sources are optimized for performance. 

  • Execute test plans and perform QA to validate the functionality and integrity of reporting and dashboard solutions. 

Requirements:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline with 4 years of relevant experience. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a master’s degree and 2 years’ experience; a Ph.D. and up to 1 year of experience; or 8 years’ experience in a related field. 

  • Expertise in developing dashboards and reports in Tableau using blended data sources.  

  • Hands-on experience leading requirements discovery workshops, creating business requirements and aligning business stakeholders and teams to feature design and trade-offs. 

  • Proficiency in SQL query writing and optimization. 

  • Hands-on experience with one of the following data warehouse or data lake solutions: Snowflake, Google BigQuery, AWS Redshift, Oracle, Microsoft Azure, or Apache Hive. 

  • Experience in executing measurement strategy exercises and defining key metrics/KPIs. 

  • Competency in root cause analysis, troubleshooting, and stakeholder communication. 

  • Hands-on experience creating training tools, FAQ’s or educational material tailored for business users. 

  • Experience with the agile scrum framework. 

  • Strong analytical acumen. 

  • Outstanding communication skills. 

Preferred Qualifications:  

  • Previous experience in Analytics consultancy or a similar BI role within a large organization. 

  • Familiarity with other BI tools (MicroStrategy, PowerBI, Looker) is a strong plus. 

  • Experience in the automotive industry, especially related to Dealer & Consumer Metrics/ Analytics. 

  • Ability to navigate ambiguity and drive clarity. 

  • Solid team-building and problem-solving skills.

Compensation:

Compensation includes a base salary of $77,000.00 - $115,600.00. The salary rate may vary within the anticipated range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's experience. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program.

The Company offers eligible employees the flexibility to take as much vacation with pay as they deem consistent with their duties, the Company’s needs, and its obligations; seven paid holidays throughout the calendar year; and up to 160 hours of paid wellness for their own wellness or that of family members.  Employees are also eligible for additional paid time off in the form of bereavement leave, time off to vote, jury duty leave, volunteer time off, military leave, parental leave, and COVID-19 vaccination leave.
