Job Summary:
Spiers New Technologies
Performs a variety of processes, including disassembly, de-energizing, cleaning, reassembly and re-energization of batteries and battery packaging. Inspects and tests electrical connections, components, and wiring charges. Inspects batteries for defective parts, tests fluid conditions, removes battery fluids and disconnects electrical leads.
- Assembles, installs, inspects, maintains, and repairs batteries within assigned vehicle groups and types.
- Utilities electrical test equipment to confirm batteries are in good working condition after installation.
- Removes and dissembles cells and inspects parts to identify defects.
- Replaces defective parts, reassembles batteries and fuses parts as required.
- Fills cells with acid solution and determines solution gravity.
- Adds acid or water to obtain specified concentration.
- Attaches charger leads to battery posts or connector and starts charger.
- Reads meters and adjusts charge parameters to control time and flow of current through battery.
- Performs discharge tests, evaluates results and makes necessary repairs.
- Washes, cleans and neutralizes batteries.
- Maintains and repairs battery charging equipment.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Good team player who can assist and support others.
- Work cooperatively with people from diverse backgrounds.
- Provide clear and thorough information to others (e.g., verbal, written,etc)
- Regularly required to stand, walk, reach, talk and hear.
- Frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, squat and climb
- Vision abilities required include close, distance and color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
- Visibly demonstrate safety commitment by following all safety and health procedures and modeling the behaviors related to such. Actively participate in support of all safety activities aligned with Safety Excellence.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor.
