Cox Communications is looking for a Lead Enterprise Applications Engineer for a critical Data Collection platform.  This platform is key to the Data Usage Billing product.  This role will be responsible for providing functional and technical leadership for development and operations team.  This role will also be responsible for driving platform initiatives and operational stability.  This role will also entail work delivery management with geo diverse teams.  The tools and use-cases are diverse, and this role will be challenged to increase the development velocity by optimizing various parts of the pipeline.  This role also will be challenged to increase application stability and harden the platform by monitoring and alerting enhancements as well as automation.  
    
Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
•    Experienced in DevOps methodology and working with DevOps teams
•    Collaborates with Technical teams (Architecture, Engineering, Technical Operations and Quality) to develop detailed application implementation solutions
•    Architects, develops, builds and implements highly secure, compliant, resilient, cost effective and high performing solutions for assigned groups or disciplines
•    Performs application configuration, extension, integration and performance tuning.
•    Develops, builds, configures, customizes, integrates and tests solutions
•    Investigates opportunities to use new and emerging technologies
•    Develops and delivers key reporting metrics and insights related to the cost and utilization of infrastructure services
•    Ensures team-wide application of standard operating procedures for development, deployment, support, break-fix and systems management
•    Assesses usage and utilization trends to make design and implementation recommendations toward scaling an infrastructure’s architecture
•    Collaborates with others to troubleshoot and resolve escalated production, integration or application issues
•    Proficient in functional skills like analytical thinking, requirements analysis, software installation and support, system and technology Integration and Technical Troubleshooting
•    Excels in foundational skills like intentional collaboration, drive innovation, focus on execution, influence positive outcomes and strives for excellence
•    Automate applications and infrastructure deployments using standard tools 
•    Maintain enterprise applications using standard tools such as Jenkins, JobDSL etc.
•    Engage in peer-to-peer knowledge sharing and technical sessions to help drive upskilling and share best practices across the organization
•    Creates and maintains support documentation for implemented solutions 
•    Investigates opportunities to use new and emerging technologies

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum:
•    Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline and 6 years’ experience in a related field. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a master’s degree and 4 years’ experience; a Ph.D. and 1 year of experience; or 18 years’ experience in a related field.
•    Highly motivated, self-starter with a positive attitude, ability to face the challenges in a fast-paced environment within a customer experience-focused operations organization.
•    Strong knowledge and experience in application installation and management on Linux systems and in software development methodology. 
•    Previous programming or software development experience (Java, Python, Scala) and use of Jenkins pipeline.
•    Demonstrated ability in analytical thinking, software installation and support, collaboration, troubleshooting, problem solving, execution and focus on excellence to work effectively with teams throughout organization
•    Demonstrated ability to investigate reported service interruptions and implement short- and long-term solutions
•    Demonstrated ability for proactive solutions to reduce service interruptions
•    Previous programming or software development experience
•    Ability to balance multiple high priority projects 
•    Excellent oral and written communication skills

Preferred: 
•    Knowledge of or experience in Kafka, KStreams and Big Data.
•    Strong knowledge / experience with standard Cloud Computing platforms such as AWS, Kubernetes and Rancher.
•    Experience in telecommunications industry is desired.
