Description
The Software Engineer II writes and maintains code within applications and systems to implement capabilities and features, improve performance and maintainability, while reducing technical debt in alignment with product and technology roadmaps. The Software Engineer II plays a role in Agile planning, providing advice and guidance, and monitoring emerging trends.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Agile Planning
Works with Product Management to understand the challenges that customers and end users face in their day-to-day work and partner with them to design viable solutions.
Recommends viable solutions to processes, technology, and interfaces that improve the effectiveness of the team and reduce technical debt.
Foresees capacity requirements for component usage and identifies limitations.
Provides input into story sizing, backlog grooming, and release planning.
Product Development
Contributes to product and solution designs to address critical issues and complex problems.
Builds software applications across multiple platforms in response to the needs of stakeholders.
Understands technical architecture and writes software and automated tests that are aligned with agreed upon standards.
Performs trouble-shooting efforts and investigations when necessary.
Application Support
Provides ongoing support, monitoring, and maintenance of deployed products.
Advice and Guidance
Actively works with less experienced software engineers providing technical guidance and oversight.
Emerging Technology Monitoring
Actively participates in the engineering community, staying up to date on new software technologies and best practices and shares insights with others in the organization.
QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline and 2 years’ experience in a related field. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a master’s degree and up to 2 years’ experience; or 6 years’ experience in a related field

Working experience in design, development, and implementation of highly scalable, high-volume software systems and components, client-facing web applications, and major Internet-oriented applications and systems

Working experience realizing applications from conception and design to implementation and support

Working experience in coding within multiple technology stacks (e.g. Front-end: browser and device typically using common client-side technologies – HTML, CSS, JavaScript; Back-end: server, application, database using languages like Java, Python)

Working experience with application lifecycle methodologies (e.g., agile, iterative)

Working experience in analysis, design and programming

Working experience with RDBMS including writing SQL statements (SQL Server preferred) and ORM tool like Hibernate and JPA

Thorough understanding of software design and development with J2EE on Java Application Servers like JBoss/Tomcat

Compensation:
Compensation includes a base salary of $101,500.00 - $152,400.00. The salary rate may vary within the anticipated range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's experience. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program.
