Fiber Technician I
It’s hard not to marvel at the magic of fiber optics: teeny-tiny superhighways woven through cities, laced under the ocean, spanning the entire globe. All the world’s information shared through beams of light. Used by countless people but understood by few. Including you.
You’re passionate about fiber optics. Not only in theory, but in practice. You’re more than a fiber enthusiast—you’re a full-fledged fiber surgeon.

Evaluate fiber optics system constructed internally or by outside contractors using Cox Communications Fiber Optic Cable Construction Standards, and logs/reports discrepancies for potential rework.
- Maintain a high level of accuracy on all fiber splice assignments worked by performing pre-checks to verify traffic and accurate labeling to maintain fiber birth assignments with 100% accuracy.
- Respond to system outage by diagnosing and repairing fiber system damages, utilizing established restoration techniques & processes.
- Use approved industry test procedures for path losses and continuity to ensure integrity of fiber system and documents findings.
- Use proper safety equipment and procedures according to Cox Communications established standards.
- Ensure preventative maintenance is performed on daily by inspecting vehicle and equipment. Report needed repairs to immediate supervisor using appropriate procedures.
- Provide technical support for the Maintenance and MTC departments as needed.
