The Analytics and Research department is seeking an experienced Senior Web Analytics Engineer to help focus our efforts on improving our web analytics tracking, structure, and implementation to create a better audience experience. The Engineer will work closely with our technical teams to implement new ways of delivering fast-paced news across many platforms. The Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the Analytics team can track user product interactions and work with the Research team to understand user preferences and feedback. Additionally, this role will be key to organizing, structuring, and implementing web analytics solutions. The ideal candidate will have a thorough understanding of web analytics tools, big data, data warehousing, and various tag managers. This role offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, leveraging your expertise in engineering to drive meaningful insights and impact our business strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement and manage web analytics tools and tag managers (Google Analytics, MixPanel, Adobe Analytics).

  • Work closely with product teams and developers to ensure accurate data tracking and analysis.

  • Utilize HTML, JavaScript, and CSS for analytics engineering and tracking implementations.

  • Translate business requirements into detailed data collection implementation guides and tracking plans.

  • QA and troubleshoot data collection of product features, tags, and events on site & app.

  • Develop processes and roadmaps for tracking new product features in collaboration with internal stakeholders.

  • Ensure external traffic campaigns, referral sources, and A/B tests can be tracked & reported on accurately.

  • Maintain clear and consistent communication with internal clients and teams. Collaborate effectively to meet analytics objectives.


  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline and 4 years’ experience in a related field. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a master’s degree and 2 years’ experience; a Ph.D. and up to 1 year of experience; or 16 years’ experience in a related field

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in web analytics engineering

  • Strong understanding of Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Google BigQuery, HTML, JavaScript, and CSS.

  • Ability to translate client measurement/design requirements into practical implementation strategies.

  • Experience with implementing web analytics tools.

  • Aptitude for identifying and solving data collection issues, ensuring data integrity.

  • Excellent communication abilities, capable of conveying complex analytics concepts to diverse teams.

  • Excellent organizational skills, with an emphasis on Master Data Management practices.

  • Proven experience working cross-functionally with product teams and developers.

  • Ability to keep abreast of the latest industry developments and apply innovative solutions.
