Introduction to Cox Automotive Mobility Fleet Services  

As a Software Engineering Manager at Cox Automotive Mobility Fleet Services, you will become part of an innovative and forward-thinking team, instrumental in shaping the future of fleet management solutions. Fleet Services, a key group within Cox Automotive Mobility, stands as a national leader in providing comprehensive fleet services. We specialize in both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, supported by over 750 mobile-service units and a team of more than 1,000 world-class technicians, ensuring top-tier service delivery.

In your role, you will be instrumental in developing and refining these digital solutions, leading Agile teams in developing software which plays a pivotal role in advancing fleet performance and management. Your efforts will significantly influence the efficiency, safety, and sustainability of fleets across the nation.

The ideal candidate for this role embodies the following characteristics.

Responsibilities  

  •  Leads and manages team efforts to design, develop, test, and document complex software systems and applications that are deployed by CI/CD systems into Cloud providers and mobile devices. As a manager, you will be expected to oversee these processes and ensure their successful execution.  
  • Contributes code regularly, provides meaningful pull-request feedback to teammates, and encourages the same level of contribution and feedback within the team.  
  • Collaborates with product owners, architecture, test engineers, scrum masters, peers, and stakeholders to deliver business value through software. Facilitates this collaboration and ensure alignment with business objectives across the team.  
  • Regularly reviews metrics, suggests changes which improve quality, cycle time, reliability, and other key factors, and encourages the team to do the same.  
  • Presents system alterations and designs to peers and stakeholders through system demos and guides the team in effectively communicating their work.  
  • Promotes and adopts practices and tooling provided by our enterprise engineering and architectural teams and encourages the team to do the same.  
  • Leads problem diagnosis and resolution activities in cases of outages in production systems and guides the team in effective problem-solving strategies.  
  • Builds quality in by increasing test code coverage and building software in which testing is automated from the outset instead of relying on manual testing techniques. You will be expected to foster a culture of quality and automated testing within the team.  
  • Breaks down business and non-functional requirements into tangible, clear, and estimable objectives, providing recommendations to management and project team members. Oversee team estimations and ensure their accuracy. 
  • Continuously identifies opportunities for improvement across the team and methodically works to implement such changes. Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the team.  
  • Provides management with regular reports on team accomplishments and progress towards objectives. Escalates any impediments which require leadership awareness or assistance. Effectively communicate the team's progress and any challenges they face. 

Qualifications  

  •  Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or other physical science field of study. A Master's degree or MBA would be a plus. 
  • 4+ years experience managing high performing Scrum teams with a proven track record of delivery. 
  • 2+ years experience in hiring, performance management, coaching, and leadership of direct reports and contractors 
  • 6+ years experience developing and maintaining software which runs in production on the JVM.  
  • 6+ years experience in developing software using AWS technologies such as SQS, ECS, RDS, Lambda, API Gateway, etc. 
  • 6+ years experience using and developing applications on relational databases.  
  • Experience building and maintaining software running in a CI/CD pipeline using tools such as GitHub Actions. 

  • Experience instrumenting systems with observability via tools like NewRelic, Splunk, Firebase, and PagerDuty.  

Nice-to-have:  

  • Experience developing Mobile applications in Flutter/Dart.  
  • Experience developing applications with Salesforce.

Compensation:

Compensation includes a base salary of $117,300.00 - $195,500.00. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program.

The Company offers eligible employees the flexibility to take as much vacation with pay as they deem consistent with their duties, the company’s needs, and its obligations; seven paid holidays throughout the calendar year; and up to 160 hours of paid wellness annually for their own wellness or that of family members. Employees are also eligible for additional paid time off in the form of bereavement leave, time off to vote, jury duty leave, volunteer time off, military leave, parental leave, and COVID-19 vaccination leave.
