Lead Software Developer

Job Description

Lead Software Developer positions offered by Cox Communications, Inc. (Atlanta, GA). Lead discovery and requirements gathering. Develop high performance, scalable and secure solutions. Support planning and delivery of core technology upgrades. Lead and guide development teams to execute on platform and applications roadmap deliverables in collaboration with offshore Dev Leads. Project manage the designing, diagnosing and implementing of solutions to key technology and/or application problems. Provide expert judgment and analysis for the design, development, and implementation of technical solutions. Resolve highly complex technical issues and conduct advanced research. Coordinate with technology boundary partners to ensure solutions are designed to operate in highly available and reliable environments. Recommend alterations to development and design to improve quality of product and/or procedures. Liaise with Architect and offshore development team and support Architect in detailed design.

Minimum Requirements

Requires a bachelor’s or foreign equivalent degree in Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or related field and 6 years of experience in the position offered or 6 years of experience managing software projects. Also requires 6 years of experience: project managing the implementation of network protocols and principles including SNMP, TR069, CLI, SSH, or UDP; leading the application of software development best practices and design patterns; performing automation testing utilizing CI/CD; and utilizing Pub/Sub Architecture.  In lieu of a bachelor’s degree and 6 years of experience as stated, the employer will accept a master’s or foreign equivalent degree in the aforementioned fields and 4 years of experience as stated, or a Ph.D. or foreign equivalent degree in the aforementioned fields and 1 year of experience as stated. Also requires 1 year of experience overseeing development with containerization software Docker and Kubernetes; and utilizing microservices, cloud architecture and cloud platforms.  Employee reports to office in Atlanta, GA.  Position may work from home, but must live within commuting distance of stated office.

Compensation includes a base salary of $150,334 to $185,691. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program.

The Company offers eligible employees the flexibility to take as much vacation with pay as they deem consistent with their duties, the company’s needs, and its obligations; seven paid holidays throughout the calendar year; and up to 160 hours of paid wellness annually for their own wellness or that of family members. Employees are also eligible for additional paid time off in the form of bereavement leave, time off to vote, jury duty leave, volunteer time off, military leave, parental leave, and COVID-19 vaccination leave.
