Summary:

As an Accounting Analyst, you will develop, recommend, and implement accounting practices throughout Cox Communications in accordance with GAAP to ensure that financial and operating data accurately reflect the condition of the business or unit and provides reliable information necessary to control operations.

Productive professional contributor with a strong understanding of area of focus.  Assigned to larger, moderately complex projects.  Work requires increasing independence; guidance is provided on a regular basis but primarily on unusual or complex issues.  Work typically involves periodic review of output by others.  Moderate to Expert level of Excel proficiency. 

Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

  • Maintain a complete and accurate general ledger in accordance with US GAAP.

  • Performs analysis of data used to record transactions, reconcile general ledger accounts, and ensure the accuracy of financial statements

  • Performs routine financial and/or operational analyses and identifies emerging trends which may include, cost analysis, financial and expense performance comparisons, calculations of rate of return, cash flows, and forecasting/budgeting.  Creates visualization of analysis performed on the data. 

  • Records and performs routine transactions such as, journal entries, cash receipts, retirement of assets, and project setup.

  • Develop subject matter expertise within area of focus.

  • Monitor and optimize business processes by reviewing operational & financial processes to ensure compliance and effectiveness, identifying anomalies, and making recommendations.

  • Make recommendations on the appropriate course of action based on the analysis performed.

  • Provide ad-hoc analysis based on customer needs.

  • Assists with policy updates & development.

  • Perform special projects and tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

Minimum

  • 2 years of experience in related field (Finance, Accounting, Analysis, Business, etc.) and BS/BA in s related discipline. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a master’s degree in a related discipline; or 6 years of experience in a related field and no degree.

  • Requires strong knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.

  • Excellent interpersonal, leadership, presentation, and collaborative skills to work effectively with teams throughout organization

Preferred

While not required, here are some additional talents we’d welcome if they’re in your wheelhouse:

  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP

  • Big Four experience

  • Strong analytical, research capabilities, and problem-solving skills with a track record of delivering results

  • Self-starter with flexibility and willingness to balance multiple, changing priorities and work under tight deadlines

  • Experienced in organizing, prioritizing, and coordinating one’s own work

  • Proven track record of identifying issues, developing structured action plans

  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and collaborative skills to work effectively with teams

  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau) and Oracle is a strong plus

  • Experience in telecommunications industry


Compensation:

  • Compensation includes a base salary of $57,800.00 - $86,800.00. The salary rate may vary within the anticipated range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's experience. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include commission (annual, monthly, etc.) and/or an incentive program.
