Cox Automotive is seeking a Sr. Android Mobile Developer / Software Engineer for a full-time employee position based in Carmel, IN office. This will be hybrid" work-from-home role requiring the selected candidate to come into our Carmel office approximately once a week, and potentially up to 10 times a month.

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Android Developer to join our dynamic mobile development team. As a Senior Android Developer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining cutting-edge Android applications that provide exceptional user experiences. You will play a key role in driving the technical direction of our Android projects and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions. The ideal candidate should have 5 to 8 years of hands-on experience in Android app development, possessing in-depth expertise in Kotlin, Java, Android SDK, SQLite, and familiarity with bitrise.io for continuous integration and deployment.

What you will be doing :

  • Lead the end-to-end development process of Android applications, from concept to deployment, ensuring high-quality and performant code.

  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other developers to define project requirements, scope, and technical feasibility.

  • Design and implement elegant, efficient, and maintainable Android application architectures.

  • Optimize application performance, responsiveness, and battery usage to deliver a seamless user experience across various Android devices.

  • Ensure adherence to best practices, coding standards, and software development principles.

  • Conduct code reviews, provide constructive feedback, and mentor junior team members to elevate the team's technical capabilities.

  • Investigate and resolve complex technical issues, bugs, and bottlenecks in the Android applications.

  • Stay updated with the latest trends, technologies, and advancements in the Android ecosystem to drive innovation and improvement in our products.

  • Collaborate with the QA team to implement comprehensive testing strategies and ensure robust app functionality.

  • Utilize bitrise.io for continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines to streamline the development and release process.

What we require from you :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field plus 4+ years of relevant work experience; or a Master's degree plus 2+ years of relevant work experience; or a PhD plus 0-1 years of relevant experience

  • In lieu of a degree, qualified candidates would require 8+ years of relevant professional experience

  • Proven experience in Android app development with a strong portfolio of successfully launched applications on the Google Play Store.

  • Proficiency in Kotlin and Java, with a solid understanding of object-oriented programming (OOP) principles.

  • Deep knowledge of the Android SDK, Android Studio, and various libraries commonly used in Android app development.

  • Experience with SQLite and other data storage technologies in Android applications.

  • Familiarity with bitrise.io for continuous integration and deployment will be a plus.

  • Strong understanding of software development best practices, design patterns, and architectural principles for Android apps.

  • Experience with performance profiling and optimization techniques for Android applications.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to handle complex technical challenges.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively within a team and with stakeholders
