Senior Manager Legal Operations

Cox Enterprises is seeking a Senior Manager, Legal Operations. This position is responsible for managing the legal operations team for Cox Enterprises and its subsidiaries.  This position will be responsible for aligning the work of the legal operations team to the needs of the business in the most efficient and effective way to support best-in-class operations strategy, execution and support across the enterprise, while leveraging market insight to inform departmental initiatives.  The Senior Manager, Legal Operations will work to develop strong and productive relationships across the enterprise to influence the allocation of resources toward and priority order of the various needs.


Program Management

  • Stay up to date on industry best practice and leading law department processes to inform Cox legal and influence continuous improvement 
  • Build strong relationship across legal ecosystem to understand current state and make recommendations for improved operations
  • Support management of outside counsel, and support attorneys in vendor rationalization strategy for enterprise legal 
  • Support continuous improvement projects in the delivery of legal services in order to meet the needs of the Cox family of businesses
  • Ensure effective implementation and communication of Legal programs, providing visibility of key milestones and progress
  • Work with Legal Department functional leads to identify and track departmental success metrics, provide business insight to legal team members to improve alignment with company’s business goals
Financial Management
  • Provide timely, informative reporting on enterprise wide legal financial performance against budget, goals and benchmarks
  • Partner with General Counsel in budgeting and forecasting process for CEI Legal
  • Serve as primary liaison with CEI FP&A and enterprise finance departments on legal budgeting and forecasting

Technology Management

  • Provide support to lawyers in use of technology tools for matter and law firm management
  • In partnership with CEI Information Technology department, ensure effective implementation and ongoing operation of legal technology system.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Finance, Accounting or equivalent required
  • MBA preferred Proven business acumen and demonstrated management, organizational and staff administration experience
  • Strong analytical problem solving and decision making skills required
  • Ability to build relationships internally as well as externally
  • Excellent communication, including strong presentation skills and executive presence
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a highly collaborative business environment
  • 6 to 10 years of process and people management experience strongly desired
  • Strong project/process management experience preferred 
  • Budget and P/L management experience 
  • Experience with law department operations and technologies, including but not limited to: matter management, e-billing, document management, discovery management and contract management 
  • Proven ability to deliver innovative solutions and possession of a continuous improvement mindset and approach
  • Ability to coordinate and manage complex cross-functional projects given multiple competing priorities or perspectives
  • Strong consultative and solution oriented mindset, treating everyone as a preferred customer
  • Organizationally savvy and diplomatic, understanding culture, climate and ways of working across and organization; ability to read people and navigate relationships
  • Ability to manage ambiguity, risk, and changing direction of projects and strategies high-pressure situations that require sound decision making and may involve confidential or sensitive matters
  • Creative and critical thinker and problem solver who is not afraid to challenge status quo
  • Ability to achieve business results through influence, executive presence, strategic thinking, effective and creative problem solving skills and diverse views.
