About the Position
As a Senior Data Analyst at Cox Automotive, you will work directly with one or more Agile delivery teams by acquiring and analyzing large data sets to directly support the production of highly-valuable enterprise-level data assets and APIs for use by Data Scientists, other Analysts, and Product Leaders throughout the Enterprise Data organization. Some of our data assets and APIs are revenue generating, and those assets which do not directly generate revenue are often used in downstream products which do. You will be on a high-profile team which supports many of Cox Automotive’s business units!
Primary Responsibilities:
- Analytical skills must be above average. Data analysts work with large amounts of data. This role will need to see through the data and analyze it to find conclusions. Understand the challenges that the analytics organization faces in their day-to-day work, and partner with them to design viable data solutions.
- Critical thinking is a must. Candidates will interpret business questions and collaborate with engineering teams to identify data sources and queries. Recommend improvements to processes that improve the effectiveness of the team.
- Support data inquiries. Analyze data and identify trends. Visualize data. Draw conclusions, present insights and tell compelling stories.
- Perform and implement complex analyses. Select key problems to solve. Define goals. Source data. Share domain knowledge. Identify data features. Tidy, clean and transform data. Measure outcomes. Tune performance.
- Attention to detail. The candidate will have to be vigilant in their analysis to come to correct conclusions. Write data scripts/queries to understand input data, output data and transformations required to bridge the two. Work with data suppliers. Design, build and manage processes to deliver required data.
- Ensure data quality. Help manage processes to build new, and to improve existing, data pipelines. Help drive, guide, and inspect the quality of team deliverables. Measure KPIs.
- Drive for success. In absence of specific tasks and direction, determine what needs to be done for a successful outcome and work semi-autonomously to achieve it. Demonstrate ownership of initiatives and drive them through to completion.
Qualifications:
Knowledge, Experience and Education:
- 5+ Years of IT experience and expertise as Data Analyst/Data modeler with solid understanding of data warehouse / data mart development and Business Intelligence applications.
- Passion for analysis and a focus on business results.
- Ability to understand and work with product owners and engineers in a scaled Agile environment.
- Effective written, listening and oral communications.
- Excellent technical writing skills including high- and low-level diagramming techniques.
- Collaborative nature and ability to balance vision and execution.
- Knowledge of BI tools (Business Objects, Tableau, Alteryx)
- Experience with cloud environments (AWS strongly preferred)
- Bachelor’s degree in math, computer science, economics or statistics.
- Power user of MS Office suite, including Excel, VISIO, PowerPoint.
- DBMS/Query Tools such as Snowflake, Redshift, Rapid SQL, SQL Developer, SQL Navigator, etc.
- Experience with SQL is a must!
- Databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, Snowflake, Redshift, Athena
- ETL Design tools and methodologies
- Public speaking skills
