Release Engineer

Release Engineering is an innovative team devoted to providing automated solutions and services for Cox Automotive to measure, evaluate and plan for visible, reliable Release Management. As a member of the Release Engineering team, you will engage with development teams to help create automated pipelines and solutions required for continuous delivery. The tools and use-cases are diverse, and our challenge is to increase the development velocity by optimizing various parts of the pipeline.  We are looking for engineers who are passionate about DevOps!

Essential Functions: 80%

·Assist in the preparation, administration and implementing software builds for development, testing and production environments

·Collaborate with our Team our Product and Production Engineering teams promoting changes through development to production

·Support the implementation,  administration, maintenance and refinement of the automated build system

·Maintain and support the development of scripts and utilities to support SCM processes

·Support and participate in the development of Site Reliability Engineering standards, guidelines and procedures

Non-Essential Functions: 20%

·Other activities based on your growth objectives and needs of the Team


Education:   Bachelors Degree with 1 or more years of experience. 3-5 years of experience in lieu of a degree.

·Working understanding of source code versioning and systems like GitHub

·Exposure to build automation tools such as Jenkins

·Working knowledge of one or more scripting languages (DSC PowerShell, Bash, Python, Perl)

·Excellent communicator, both verbal and in writing, and you're curious and love to learn

·Multi-tasker by nature who thrives in a changing, dynamic environment working flexible hours when needed

·Service-oriented mindset and willingness to help the team ensure shared success

·Desire to work in a fast paced, evolving, growing, dynamic environment

·Definite assets include experience and/or active interest in:

oAutomating processes in a production environment

oApplication Server platforms (.Net, JBoss, EAP, EWS, Wildfly)

oCloud Computing platforms (Amazon AWS, MS Azure, VMware, Docker)

oAgile development, continuous integration and automated testing

oJava build tools such as Ant, Maven, Gant, or Gradle
