The Crew Leader is responsible for ensuring the efficient movement of vehicles from Point A to Point B, including deliveries to dealerships and pickups, while leading drivers and supporting daily lot operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Train and orient new drivers on job duties, safety procedures, and company expectations. Assist the supervisor in assigning and directing daily work activities.
- Communicate with the supervisor, manager, and/or dispatch coordinator to ensure proper vehicle flow and maintain accurate logs of stock numbers and vehicle locations.
- Assign and communicate daily schedules and work assignments to crew members to ensure productivity and efficiency.
- Operate and manage transport vans (including 15-passenger vans) to transport drivers and employees safely and efficiently to assigned locations.
- Ensure timely pick-up and drop-off of employees and vehicles according to schedule, including transportation to auctions, parking lots, dealerships, customer locations, and other designated sites.
- Monitor driver performance to ensure all vehicles are safely and properly transported.
- Perform daily inspections and routine maintenance of company vans, including fueling, cleaning, and ensuring vehicles are in safe working condition.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to safety by following all safety policies and procedures and modeling appropriate safety behaviors. Partner with the Market Safety Manager to support safety initiatives.
- Collaborate with management to review work volumes and monitor staffing levels to ensure operational efficiency, quality results, and excellent customer service.
- Lead by example by demonstrating professionalism, accountability, and adherence to Cox/Manheim values. Promote a respectful and team-oriented work environment.
Qualifications:
Minimum
High School Diploma/GED and 3 years’ experience in a related field.
OR the right candidate could also have a different combination, such as any level degree/certification beyond a HS diploma/GED in a related discipline;
OR 5 years’ experience in a related field
Safe drivers needed; valid driver’s license required.
Preferred
Ability to drive vehicles with standard and automatic transmission.
Basic mechanical knowledge (i.e., changing flat tires, checking fluids, jump starting vehicles.)
Knowledge of lot operations/lot layout required.
Knowledge of local roadways, hotels, airports and restaurants preferred.
Ability to effectively use mobile devices including scanners to manage workflow.
Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time.
Regularly required to stand, walk, reach, talk and hear.
Ability to lift 1-15 pounds.
Vision abilities required include close, distance and color vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
Constant exposure to outdoor weather conditions. Moderate noise level.

Compensation:
Hourly pay rate is in the range of $15.10 - $22.69/hour. The hourly base rate may vary within the anticipated range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include commission (annual, monthly, etc.) and/or an incentive program.
