JOB SUMMARY
Cox Fleet is currently hiring a Lead Mobile Forklift Technician & Trainer to perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on material-handling equipment light-, as well as medium-and heavy-duty vehicles. This technician will be a high-level field resource with strong electrical, hydraulic, diesel, and mechanical troubleshooting capability. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience servicing forklifts, reach trucks, pallet jacks, and related warehouse equipment, and can work independently while maintaining strong documentation, safety, and customer-service standards. They will be Fixing Forklifts as regular tech, onboarding new forklift technician, conduct Forklift training for all forklift technicians, as needed
Key Technician Responsibilities
- Perform inspections, preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on light-, medium-, and heavy-duty vehicles and equipment.
- Diagnose and repair diesel and gasoline engines, brakes, suspension, steering, electrical systems, HVAC, hydraulics, and driveline components.
- Service and repair material-handling equipment, including:
- Raymond 8210 pallet jacks
- Reach trucks
- Electric forklifts
- Hyster equipment
- Yale equipment
- Toyota forklifts and material-handling equipment
- Troubleshoot electrical, battery, charging, hydraulic, and control-system issues.
- Complete work orders, inspections, parts requests, and repair documentation accurately and on time.
- Maintain a clean, safe, organized mobile work environment and follow all company and client safety requirements.
- Communicate repair findings, downtime risks, and parts clearly to leadership and customers.
- Support junior technicians with troubleshooting, repair guidance, and technical coaching as needed.
- Maintain required tools, certifications, and ongoing technical training.
Key Trainer Responsibilities
- Mentor experience preferred
- Able to comprehend written material and communicate orally and in writing and through practice with employees and customers easily and effectively.
- Communication and presentation skills, ability to deliver content effectively.
- Deliver hands-on technical training for light and medium-duty vehicle maintenance and repair
- Execute structured training programs covering preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repair procedures
- Evaluate technician skill levels and provide individualized coaching and development plans
- Ensure trainees demonstrate safe work practices and compliance with DOT and company standards
- Track trainee progress and maintain training documentation, certifications, and performance records
- Travel to different States, up to 50% of the time during training and perform in-field training for new and current forklift technicians.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED and 7 years’ experience. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as any level degree/certification beyond a HS diploma/GED in a related discipline and 5 years’ experience; or 9 years’ experience in a related field
- Eight (8) years of professional technician experience in fleet maintenance, diesel repair, automotive repair, material handling or forklift service preferred.
- Demonstrated experience with light-, medium-, and heavy-duty equipment maintenance and repair.
- Strong experience diagnosing and repairing electric forklifts, reach trucks, pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment.
- Working knowledge of hydraulic systems, electrical systems, batteries/chargers, diesel engines, brakes, and preventive maintenance programs.
- Ability to read wiring diagrams, service manuals, and diagnostic information.
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to work independently in a mobile or field-service environment.
- Ability to lift, carry, and move tools, parts, and equipment as required for the role.
Preferred Qualifications
- Forklift, material-handling, or manufacturer certifications.
- Experience with Raymond, Hyster, Yale, Toyota, Crown, or similar equipment.
- ASE certifications.
- CDL or experience servicing commercial vehicles.
- Experience using mobile work-order, fleet-management, or maintenance software.

- This position offers production‑based pay, meaning compensation is determined by the tasks performed. Pay ranges from $38.00 to $48.00 per hour based on location. The position may also be eligible for additional compensation, which may include commission (annual, monthly, etc.) and/or an incentive program.

Benefits:
Employees are eligible to receive a minimum of 6.67 hours of paid time off every month and seven paid holidays throughout the calendar year.
