The Business Intelligence Manager serves as a skilled analytical practitioner and client-facing consultant, translating complex wholesale data into actionable insights and recommendations that inform business strategy and client decision-making. Working across National Commercial and National Dealer accounts, this role designs and executes sophisticated analytical frameworks, develops and maintains enterprise data queries and reporting pipelines, and delivers compelling data narratives to business stakeholders. The BI Manager collaborates cross-functionally with Data Science, Applied Research, and technology partners, contributes to team analytical standards, and mentors junior analysts in methodology and professional development.
Client-Facing Consulting & Delivery
Works closely with stakeholders from multiple functions to identify systemic issues and challenges facing key segments of the business.
Serves as a primary analytical point of contact for assigned National Commercial and National Dealer & National Commercial accounts, delivering performance insights through QBRs, account reviews, and ad hoc analysis spanning auction activity, MMR retention, pricing efficiency, and channel performance.
Partners with Sales teams to prepare data packages and analytical context in support of client meetings and strategic conversations.
Consultatively delivers manageable datasets, reports, and data-generated insights and recommendations with the potential for transforming business direction and decision-making.
Advanced Analytics & Data Development
Identifies and develops investigative methodologies for addressing business issues and challenges.
Designs, builds, and maintains complex SQL-based queries and views in Snowflake to support client analysis, internal reporting, and ad hoc research across large-scale wholesale transaction datasets.
Develops and validates analytical frameworks including vehicle velocity segmentation, arbitrage analysis, cycle time performance, and pricing efficiency metrics used across the Client Insights team.
Develops new metrics to track the business and uncover previously unseen trends.
Collaborates with Data Science, Applied Research, and Operational Analytics partners on specific analytical projects to align on methodology and share relevant data assets.
Infrastructure & Process Improvement
Works with Product, Engineering, and other technical teams to help shape and drive further development of Cox’s Business Intelligence infrastructure, including data warehousing, reporting, and analytics platforms.
Develops and recommends continuous process improvement initiatives for the Business Intelligence team.
Contributes to the development and documentation of team standards, including canonical metric definitions, Snowflake query conventions, and repeatable analytical workflows.
Project Management & Execution
Manages and executes large and complex projects from start to finish.
Identifies opportunities to integrate AI-assisted tools into recurring analytical processes, including automated reporting, digest workflows, and self-service intelligence applications, and contributes to their implementation.
Mentorship & Analytical Guidance
Mentors BI Analysts, providing guidance on analytical methodology, data quality standards, and best practices for client-facing delivery.
Supports onboarding and skills development for junior analysts on the team, contributing to a culture of continuous learning and analytical rigor.
Required Experience & Specialized Knowledge and Skills
Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline and 6 years of experience in a related field. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a master’s degree and 4 years of experience; a Ph.D. and up to 1 year of experience; or 10 years of experience in a related field.
Automotive industry experience is a plus but not required.
Strong analytical skills and ability to work with large data sets.
Proficiency in tools like Excel, PowerPoint, Tableau, SQL, Snowflake, Access.
Experience in strategic/consultative roles and presenting to executive audiences.
Ability to work in a matrixed management environment.
Travel ~ 50-60%

Compensation:
Compensation includes a base salary in the range of $101,500.00 - $169,100.00. The salary rate may vary within the anticipated range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's experience. In addition to the salary range identified herein, this role is also eligible for an annual incentive/commission target of $0.01.
