Position Summary
The Driver I is responsible for the safe and efficient movement of vehicles throughout the auction facility. This role supports daily operations by transporting, staging, parking, and delivering vehicles to designated locations while maintaining inventory accuracy, safety standards, and customer service expectations. Drivers play a critical role in ensuring vehicles are sale-ready and available when needed.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, or Tuesday through Saturday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Please note that scheduled days and hours may change in mid to late August based on business needs.
Flexibility to accommodate changes in days and hours is required.
Pay Rate: $17.79
Key Responsibilities
Vehicle Movement & Handling
Safely operate a wide variety of vehicles, including cars, trucks, SUVs, and specialty vehicles.
Move vehicles between auction lanes, storage lots, inspection areas, reconditioning services, customer pick-up locations, and designated parking areas.
Stage vehicles for sale events, inspections, photography, transportation, and customer delivery.
Ensure vehicles are parked in assigned locations and accurately recorded in company systems.
Conduct visual inspections for vehicle damages and report discrepancies immediately.
Safety & Compliance
Follow all company safety policies, driving procedures, and operating guidelines.
Adhere to posted speed limits and traffic patterns throughout the auction facility.
Utilize required personal protective equipment (PPE).
Immediately report accidents, damage, safety hazards, or operational concerns.
Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
Inventory Accuracy
Verify vehicle identification numbers (VINs), stock numbers, and vehicle locations.
Utilize handheld devices and inventory management systems to update vehicle status and locations.
Assist in locating missing or misplaced vehicles.
Support inventory audits and vehicle search as needed.
Customer Service
Provide professional and courteous service to internal and external customers.
Assist customers and team members in locating vehicles when requested.
Work closely with Customer Service, Transportation, Commercial, Operations, and Sales teams to ensure vehicles are processed efficiently.
Respond promptly to operational requests and changing priorities.
Operational Support
Assist with lot organization and maintenance activities.
Support sale-day activities, vehicle staging, and other operational projects.
Participate in team meetings and operational training.
Perform additional duties as assigned to support business needs.
Qualifications
Required
High School Diploma or GED preferred.
Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
Ability to operate automatic and manual transmission vehicles (preferred).
Ability to safely drive a wide variety of vehicle makes and models.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Preferred
Previous driving, transportation, logistics, lot operations, warehouse, or automotive experience.
Experience operating handheld devices or inventory management systems.
Prior experience in an automotive auction, dealership, rental, fleet, or transportation environment.

Ability to sit and operate vehicles for extended periods.

Drug Testing:
To be employed in this role, you'll need to clear a pre-employment drug test. Cox Automotive does not currently administer a pre-employment drug test for marijuana for this position. However, we are a drug-free workplace, so the possession, use or being under the influence of drugs illegal under federal or state law during work hours, on company property and/or in company vehicles is prohibited.
Compensation:
Hourly pay rate is $17.79. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include commission (annual, monthly, etc.) and/or an incentive program.
Benefits:
Employees are eligible to receive a minimum of sixteen hours of paid time off every month and seven paid holidays throughout the calendar year. Employees are also eligible for additional paid time off in the form of bereavement leave, time off to vote, jury duty leave, volunteer time off, military leave, and parental leave.
