What You’ll Do
You’ll supervise a team of dedicated mechanics, ensuring quality work as they resurrect cars for remarketing. You’ll roll up your sleeves every day and build your future in a field you can’t get enough of. Here’s a peek at your day:
Manage activities of the mechanic shop to ensure vehicles are properly inspected, repaired, and all work is performed in a timely manner and according to established quality standards and customer or account requirements.
Use management tools to track production and ensure charges are submitted for posting.
Supervise the completion of work order forms to ensure accurate vehicle records.
Approve and forward bills and invoices to the accounting department for timely billing.
Develop mechanic shop staff professional and technical knowledge by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees, and by providing educational opportunities.
Counsel and discipline employees, as necessary. Plan, monitor, and evaluate job performance, and conduct performance appraisals.
Review work volumes, plan and continuously monitor staffing levels to ensure efficiency, quality work product, and effective customer service; review departmental performance against key performance indicators and metrics, and develop and execute strategies for improvement.
Effectively leads the team at the location by setting an example in behavior, championing Cox/Manheim values, and ensuring that all employees are treated with respect.
Work with other departments and staff to ensure effective and efficient operational processes that align with company objectives and strategies
Provide high-quality customer service and products and resolve potential problems.
Oversee maintenance and protection of shop equipment.
Provide and maintain safe work environment by explaining, monitoring, and enforcing required Auction safety procedures and complying with OSHA requirements.
Leading by example and ensuring that all employees are treated with respect.
Enforcing all company policies and procedures related to employee and customer conduct.
Visibly demonstrate safety commitment by following all safety and health procedures and modeling the behaviors related to such. Work in cooperation with safety leadership in support of all safety activities aligned with Safety Excellence.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum qualifications include
High School Diploma/GED and 5 years’ experience in a related field (vehicle reconditioning, detailing, mechanical and/or body shop experience). The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a bachelor’s degree and 3 years’ experience in a related field (vehicle reconditioning, detailing, mechanical and/or body shop experience); a master's degree and 1 year of experience (vehicle reconditioning, detailing, mechanical and/or body shop experience); or a Ph.D. and up to 1 year of experience (vehicle reconditioning, detailing, mechanical and/or body shop experience).
Requires strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suites.
Excellent supervisory, organizational, teamwork, and customer service skills to work effectively with teams throughout organization.
Safe drivers needed; valid driver’s license required.
Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds.
Preferred qualifications:
A working knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations is preferred.
Ability to drive standard and automatic transmission vehicles.
ASE certifications in automotive repair.

Compensation:
Compensation includes a base salary in the range of $80,600.00 - $120,800.00. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program.
