This position offers a $1,500 New Hire Tool Bonus
This position is responsible for determining final mechanical status of vehicles before unit is set for sale. This position performs basic level vehicle repairs to increase the value of the unit at the auction.
Key Responsibilities
- Verify vehicle mechanical status determined by Operations Coordinators at check-in.
- Perform light mechanical repairs to get vehicle to run and/or drive.
- Perform necessary minor repairs to vehicles such as inflating or replacing tires, prior to parking. Communicate with Operations Coordinators to retake and update images.
- For more moderate repairs, contact local yards or distributors to find and price used parts when applicable. Contact customer directly for approval to make repairs.
- Look over vehicles for enhancement recommendations and communicate recommendations to Account.
- Maintain an organized, neat and safe bay.
- Change oil and/or transmission fluid and filters.
- Install batteries and checks electrical systems.
- Install and perform tire maintenance.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor/manager.
Education & Specialty
- High School Diploma or equivalent work experience preferred.
- Valid driver’s license and safe driving record required.
- Become certified in a minimum of 5 areas with a preference for brakes, alignments, suspensions, cooling, and electrical.
- Any ASE certifications and/or a tech school degree is preferred, but not required.
Experience
- 1-2 years of automotive mechanical diagnosis, problem-solving and repair experience preferred. · Ability to road test vehicles.
- Ability to install parts which include shock absorbers and exhaust systems.
- Ability to drive manual and automatic transmissions.
- Effective communication and organization skills required.
- Basic computer skills and the ability to utilize a portable terminal, brick, etc. preferred.
- Commitment to providing excellent customer service essential.
- Regularly required to stand, walk, reach, talk, and hear.
- Frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, squat, and climb.
- Prolonged standing on hard concrete/asphalt surfaces.

To be employed in this role, you'll need to clear a pre-employment drug test. Cox Automotive does not currently administer a pre-employment drug test for marijuana for this position. However, we are a drug-free workplace, so the possession, use or being under the influence of drugs illegal under federal or state law during work hours, on company property and/or in company vehicles is prohibited.
Compensation:
Hourly pay rate is in the range of $20.10 - $30.10/hour. The hourly base rate may vary within the anticipated range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include commission (annual, monthly, etc.) and/or an incentive program.
Benefits:
Employees are eligible to receive a minimum of sixteen hours of paid time off every month and seven paid holidays throughout the calendar year. Employees are also eligible for additional paid time off in the form of bereavement leave, time off to vote, jury duty leave, volunteer time off, military leave, and parental leave.
