The Digital Marketing / Communications Specialist II owns ad serving and trafficking operations for paid media. This role traffics creative and tags into the ad server and buying platforms, manages creative rotation and weighting across flights, and resolves delivery and impression discrepancies between the ad server, publishers, and buying platforms. Every paid media campaign depends on this work being correct before launch and monitored after it.
As ad serving moves in-house, this role is accountable for ad-serving hygiene and for the operational discipline behind the ad-serving vendor investment: clean placement structures, accurate tag implementation, retired trafficking sheets, and reconciled delivery counts. Specialist II coordinates with the Activation Senior Specialist on launch sequencing, with Marketing Technology and web teams on site tag implementation, and with publishers and ad-serving vendors on technical troubleshooting.
What You’ll Do
Creative Trafficking & Ad Serving
- Traffics display, video, native, and rich media creative into the ad server and buying platforms, verifying specifications, click-through URLs, and third-party tag integrity.
- Builds and maintains ad server placement structures, creative assignments, and ad associations aligned to campaign taxonomy and naming standards.
- Manages creative rotation and weighting across flights, executing scheduled swaps, sequencing, and dayparting as directed by the campaign plan.
- Generates and distributes trafficking sheets and ad tags to publishers and confirms correct implementation prior to launch.
- Retrieves, versions, and stores creative assets so the correct materials are in market at all times.
Tag & Pixel Management
- Implements and validates conversion pixels, floodlight tags, and event tracking in coordination with Marketing Technology and web teams.
- Audits tag placement across landing pages and site templates, identifying missing, duplicated, or misfiring tags.
- Maintains tag documentation mapping each tag to its campaign, conversion event, and owner.
- Coordinates tag requests with third-party vendors including verification, rich media, and measurement partners.
Delivery Troubleshooting & Discrepancy Resolution
- Monitors delivery across ad servers, buying platforms, and publisher reporting, identifying impression, click, and conversion discrepancies.
- Investigates and resolves discrepancies with publishers, platforms, and ad-serving vendors, documenting root cause and resolution.
- Troubleshoots creative rendering, latency, and serving failures and executes corrective trafficking changes.
- Escalates unresolved technical issues with a clear summary of the investigation completed to date.
- Tracks recurring discrepancy patterns by publisher or platform and surface them for commercial follow-up.
Ad-Serving Hygiene & Vendor Operations
- Owns ad-serving hygiene including retirement of completed placements, archiving of inactive creative, and removal of orphaned tags.
- Monitors ad-serving impression consumption against the contracted vendor commitment and flags pacing variances.
- Supports invoice validation for ad-serving costs by reconciling served impressions against vendor reporting.
- Maintains ad-serving configuration documentation including user access, naming standards, and trafficking procedures.
- Executes quality assurance checks covering rendering, click-through function, tracking, and creative accuracy before every launch.
Reporting & Collaboration
- Pulls ad server delivery reporting and provides served impression, click, and rotation data to support campaign reporting.
- Coordinates with the Activation Sr Specialist and respective teams on logistics, execution, and metrics for each launch.
- Designs and develops trafficking status views giving the team visibility into what is built, what is pending, and what is blocked.
- Stays current on ad serving standards, creative formats, privacy and signal-loss developments affecting tag-based measurement.
