Since the 1960s, Cox Enterprises owned and operated Cox Communications, which became the largest private broadband company in America. On August 19, 2026, Charter Communications acquired Cox Communications and now markets the combined company’s products and services under the Spectrum brand. Cox Enterprises will hold a significant ownership stake in the company, keeping Cox invested in the industry it helped to pioneer.
