Building Cars and Driving Careers Forward

As a racing enthusiast, Ray Tucker knows the importance of continually raising the bar.
For years, he has helped his son pursue a passion for racing, spending countless hours building race cars by hand, setting ambitious goals and finding ways to improve with every lap. Together, they’ve worked on everything from engines and transmissions to welding and repairs, constantly learning and pushing themselves to reach the next level.
“I love [setting] audacious goals, because if you don’t put them out there, you’re not going to [achieve] them,” Ray said.
Ray brings that same mindset into his work as an operations trainer at Cox Automotive, where he travels across the country to help vehicle inspectors sharpen their skills. He believes that when people invest in learning, everyone moves forward together.
“I’ve noticed that within Cox, whether it be with Cox Automotive or any of the other Cox divisions, making your people better makes you better as a manager,” he said.
Whether on the track or in the workplace, Ray’s approach remains the same: keep learning, continue improving and never stop looking for what you can achieve next.
