How These Cox Employees Lead With Cheer on and off the Field

In cheerleading, there’s no such thing as going it alone. Flyers don’t rise without bases or spotters, and every routine depends on trust and accountability across the entire team.
Jenny Murray and Kaleb Comer learned that early. Years in the sport, including time as collegiate team captains, pushed them to navigate pressure, lead through uncertainty and show up not just for themselves, but for everyone around them.
For Jenny, an after-school activity grew into a 15-year cheerleading career. Kaleb began in competitive gymnastics before ultimately finding his place in cheer. Their paths were different, but they led to the same place: a sport that demands consistency, adaptability and trust in others.
Today, those same instincts shape how they work at Cox. Their approach goes beyond individual performance; it’s grounded in how they support their teams and contribute to something bigger than themselves.
Building habits that last
The life of a student-athlete is a constant balancing act. At Georgia Tech, Jenny managed a full class schedule alongside practices, games and everything that came with being a scholarship athlete.
“I think it really helped shape my habit of planning ahead and staying on track with my responsibilities,” she said. “That’s something I really appreciate moving into my career.”
After graduating in 2022, Jenny joined Cox’s LEAD rotational program. She now works as a business process design analyst at Cox Automotive.

At the University of Georgia, Kaleb also learned stay accountable to his responsibilities while gaining experience as a representative of his school.
“That really gave me a sense of discipline to make sure that I always prioritize how I carry myself, which transitions well to the workplace,” said Kaleb, who joined Cox in 2025 as a benefits experience event specialist.
Learning about leadership and teamwork
Jenny and Kaleb both stepped into leadership as team captains at their respective schools.
During her two-year tenure as a captain at Georgia Tech, Jenny led a team of around 60 people while managing the demands of college life. Her experience pushed her to think beyond herself and focus on what was best for the team.
“It was a really cool experience, but also a big learning experience on how to lead others,” she said. “You have to think about the greater good of the team and how to be optimistic and lead by example.”
At UGA, Kaleb became team captain during a pivotal moment when the team brought on 21 rookies. Leading meant bringing them up to speed on the standards of being a Georgia cheerleader, reestablishing team culture and building something that could carry forward.

“I had to completely restart the program,” Kaleb recalled. “It was really an opportunity for me to take something that I knew and teach it to others, along with making it my own and starting new [traditions] that have passed on to the next generation of cheerleaders.”
Both experiences shaped how they think about leadership today. Even when you’re not somebody’s boss or manager, leadership shows up in how you set the tone, build trust and support those around you.
Building strength as a team
For Kaleb, one of the most important takeaways from cheerleading is the importance of taking care of both yourself and your team.
“Cheerleading taught me that you're only as strong as your weakest link,” he said. “It’s harder to do something on your own and try to pull everyone along versus making sure that everyone’s equally okay and pulling it together.”
That mindset shows up in the small moments: checking in on a teammate, offering help, making sure no one falls behind. When one person struggles, the whole team feels it. And when everyone is at their best, the results speak for themselves.
For Jenny, cheerleading highlighted the power of shared goals: what can happen when a group of people works toward the same outcome and supports each other along the way.
“Cheerleading taught me just how powerful a community can be,” Jenny said. “Having a shared purpose, having the same goal and pushing each other to work for it is really motivating. I think I've been really lucky to find that here at Cox as well. Whether we're working on a small project or a larger initiative, my team is always there and pushing each other to be the best.”
