From city hall to crime, from higher education to hip hop, Ernie Suggs’ career in journalism has been filled with distinct and exciting stories and opportunities for impact.
Ernie is a senior reporter covering race and culture at The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, part of the Cox family of businesses. Since joining the AJC in 1997, he’s brought top-notch, timely news to readers in Atlanta and beyond.
Ernie has covered iconic civil rights icons like Coretta Scott King and John Lewis. He also authored The Many Lives of Andrew Young, and was writer and producer of the Emmy-nominated hip-hop documentary, The South Got Something to Say.
“I have been able to explore different ways to tell stories,” Ernie said. “I have also been able to see the world and meet the world, all because of the privilege it has been to be a reporter at one of the most important news organizations in the world.”
