Turning up the volume on great ideas

Growing up, Rhonda Hollins loved recording homemade shows on cassette tapes in her parents’ basement. Years later, that childhood passion has come full circle.

“Coming into Cox Automotive and being able to host [a] podcast and lead large leadership meetings at the senior level — that has been a dream come true,” Rhonda said.

At Cox Automotive, Rhonda found a workplace where she feels empowered to be her authentic self and share her ideas.

“You can be who you really are, and it’s valued; it’s appreciated,” she said.

That encouragement gave Rhonda the confidence to turn a personal passion into an opportunity to make an impact beyond her role in sales strategy and business development.

Outside of work, she and her husband launched a relationship podcast that gained enough attention to be featured by Podcast Magazine. The experience inspired her to think about how podcasting could help tell stories at Cox. She pitched an idea directly to the president of mobility services at Cox Automotive: a podcast highlighting employees, innovation and the work happening across the business.

“I pitched the idea, and it was a great success,” she said. “We were able to highlight superstars on the team and show people what mobility does and how we’re changing the world in a very innovative way.”

For Rhonda, the experience reinforced that great ideas can come from anywhere and that leaders at Cox are willing to listen.

“I think it goes back to my authentic self,” Rhonda said. “Who I am is my voice, and I’m able to share my voice here in multiple different ways. It’s all I ever dreamed of and I’m so grateful.”
