Are you a former technician, shop foreman, fleet maintenance professional, service advisor, or OEM warranty administrator looking to leverage your mechanical expertise without spending every day in the shop?

As a Fleet Service Advisor I, you'll serve as a trusted maintenance partner for commercial fleet customers, acting as an extension of their maintenance department. In this role, you will review repair recommendations, evaluate maintenance needs, authorize repairs, and help customers balance vehicle uptime, safety, and maintenance costs.

Using your mechanical expertise and sound judgment, you'll ensure repairs adhere to customer maintenance programs, OEM guidelines, and industry best practices while delivering an exceptional customer experience. Fleet Service Advisors work closely with repair facilities, technicians, vendors, and customers to make informed maintenance decisions, control costs, and minimize vehicle downtime.

This is an ideal opportunity for individuals with automotive, diesel, trucking, dealership, fleet maintenance, warranty administration, or service advising experience who want to transition their hands-on technical knowledge into a remote, office-based role while continuing to solve complex maintenance and repair challenges.

Work Schedule: This position supports a 10:00 AM - 7:00 PM Eastern Time shift.

Work Location: This position may be performed remotely anywhere within the United States. Qualified candidates will be considered regardless of geographic location.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review repair estimates, diagnostics, and maintenance recommendations for commercial vehicles and equipment.

  • Evaluate repair needs based on customer maintenance policies, OEM guidelines, warranty considerations, and industry best practices.

  • Authorize repairs and maintenance services within established approval guidelines.

  • Analyze labor operations, parts requirements, and repair recommendations for accuracy, necessity, and cost effectiveness.

  • Utilize vehicle repair history, maintenance records, warranty information, parts pricing, labor standards, and repair best practices to support maintenance decisions.

  • Communicate with repair facilities, technicians, vendors, and customers to obtain diagnostic information and clarify repair recommendations.

  • Act as an advocate for customers by helping manage repairs on their behalf and ensuring service providers meet customer maintenance expectations.

  • Audit managed repairs and preventive maintenance inspections to ensure accuracy, validity, and compliance with customer standards.

  • Research maintenance history and prior repairs to support repair authorization decisions.

  • Assist in resolving invoice discrepancies, estimate variances, maintenance-related disputes, and billing concerns.

  • Support preventive maintenance program compliance and vehicle maintenance scheduling activities.

  • Collaborate with internal teams, service providers, and customers to minimize vehicle downtime and ensure timely repair completion.

  • Maintain detailed and accurate documentation of repair authorizations, recommendations, and case activity.

  • Deliver an exceptional customer experience through timely communication, quality service, and sound maintenance decision making.

  • Manage multiple repair cases simultaneously while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED and 4 years of experience in fleet maintenance, diesel repair, automotive repair, warranty administration, service advising, vehicle maintenance operations, or a related field. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as an associate degree and 2 years of experience; a bachelor's degree in a related discipline; or 8 years of related experience.

  • Strong working knowledge of automotive, diesel, or commercial vehicle maintenance and repair.

  • Ability to understand vehicle diagnostics, repair recommendations, and maintenance requirements.

  • Ability to interpret repair estimates, labor operations, parts requirements, maintenance recommendations, and warranty considerations.

  • Strong computer proficiency and ability to navigate multiple software systems simultaneously.

  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

  • High attention to detail and documentation accuracy.

  • Ability to manage a high-volume workload while maintaining quality and customer service standards.

Preferred Qualifications

  • ASE Certification(s) or other industry-recognized maintenance certifications.

  • Experience supporting medium-duty and heavy-duty commercial fleets.

  • Experience in fleet management, transportation, trucking, dealership service operations, or OEM warranty administration.

  • Previous experience reviewing repair estimates, warranty claims, maintenance authorizations, or vendor invoices.

  • Knowledge of preventive maintenance programs, DOT compliance requirements, and OEM maintenance standards.

  • Previous mechanical training or hands-on technician experience.

Successful candidates should be comfortable discussing and evaluating topics such as:
