Signs You're Ready For A New Job

Deciding to start a new job search is a huge decision. It can feel daunting to step away from the familiar and embrace the unknown.

Sometimes, though, staying put can hold you back.

Your goals, priorities and even your passions can evolve, and staying in the same place might prevent you from reaching your full potential. That’s when it’s worth asking: Is there something more out there for me?

So, how do you know when it’s time to take that first step toward something new? Here are six signs that it might be time for a fresh start.

1. Your benefits don’t fit your life.

Maybe you need more PTO. Perhaps you’re growing your family and need fertility resources, adoption assistance or childcare. Or maybe you need better healthcare coverage, like more comprehensive medical insurance, pharmacy benefits and wellness coaching. Whatever the case may be, if you’re not getting the benefits you need at your current job, it’s probably time for a change.

At Cox, our benefits cater to a range of needs and interests, whether you’re looking to advance your education, support your family or secure a solid retirement plan. Learn more here.

2. You don’t have a good work-life balance

Life is too short to neglect time with family and friends, not to mention time to simply take care of yourself and have fun outside of work. Don’t settle for less. You deserve a job where your personal life is respected.

3. You feel “stuck” in your career.

This often means you’ve outgrown your role. If you don’t see a path forward or if it feels like your leaders are not investing in your future at the company, it may be time to explore new opportunities that offer growth and advancement.

4. You’re bored...

Your job shouldn't just pay the bills; it should be interesting! If you don’t feel inspired in your job, now’s a good time to find a place where you can do cool work (and where you’re surrounded by people who challenge the status quo).

5. ...Or burnt out.

Consistent feelings of being drained, unmotivated or anxious are red flags. You may feel run-down from projects at work or from a lack of time to rest and recharge. Prioritizing your mental and emotional well-being is essential.

6. You’re not being fairly recognized for your achievements.

Your hard work should be rewarded with great pay, promotions and praise from your leaders. If this is missing from your life, it’s time to take your skills to a place where they will be celebrated.

If you’re feeling inspired to explore what else is out there for you, take a closer look at what we have to offer here at Cox. This might just be the place for you.
